Do you have drum care instructions?Updated 3 days ago
Our natural drum hides have natural oils and are meant to breathe like skin, so oiling is not necessary.
With proper care, your drum can last a lifetime.
Moisture in the air causes the hide to expand and contract.
Treat your drum like you would your own skin. Do not expose it to extreme temperatures, either hot or cold.
We recommend storing your drum where the humidity is between 30-50 percent and temperatures between 50-80 degrees.
As weather conditions change, your drum’s sound will also change.
In wet or humid conditions your drum may go flat. To tighten a loose drum head, dry it slowly with a hairdryer or place it near a fire. If the heat is too hot for you, it's too hot for the drum!
In dry conditions, such as wintertime, your drum pitch will be high or tinny. To loosen, place in a steamy bathroom or hold over a boiling pot of water.
We hope this helps!
